I live in CT and my cousin had an interaction when she was around 12 or 13 when she kind of held her dog's head down to perform oral sex on her. She didn't beat it or anything and was very depressed at the time. She loved her dog. She is afraid that she did something animal abuse related no one has filed any claim and no one knows about this but me and she's too afriad to get help herself. What kind of trouble WOULD she get in if it got out? Even if statute of limitations didn't apply, COULD she get life in prison?
You're right. This is a bizarre question. There are too many facts missing from your statement to give an accurate assessment of criminal exposure, but this behavior would definitely amount to animal abuse. However, I think it's highly unlikely that this statement alone would be sufficient to prove a crime. I think your friend needs help from a therapist. If you are a true friend, I suggest that you keep this confidence, and tell her to get the help she needs.
The response I have provided is general in nature, and does not create an attorney-client relationship. My practice is based in Rhode Island, and the law and practice in other states or jurisdictions may be different.
