I have filed for change of status through my spouse .i 485 and EAD . status of application indicates -received and my F1 is also about to expire , can i go ahead apply for OPT to maintain my non immigrant status ?
Note- EAD for i -485 will definitely arrive prior to the F1 EAD
Are the two mutually exclusive ? given its one form the i 765?
When you receive the EAD through the adjustment of status, you no longer need the F-1 OPT. By the way, an F-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa and, through the I-485, you are applying for an immigrant visa. So, yes, the two are not compatible.
The good news is that once you receive your green card, you qualify for in-state tuition at your college or university and not the international tuition rate.
