I have been granted an OPT after I graduated. I have also applied for asylum and made them aware of my OPT. If my asylum case is approved, should I file something in order to get a work permit based on asylum instead of OPT (based on F1)?
As long as you are complying with the OPT rules, you can continue working on that EAD. If not, you need a new one under either asylee or asylum seeker category.

Not sure if you will be granted asylum after staying more than a year in the U.S. since you were in school for some time to obtain an OPT. If your asylum is granted, you may receive a work permit based on the asylum status when OPT is over. It may be prudent for you to retain a lawyer to help you navigate possible challenges.
You should likely consult with a local attorney sooner rather than later on this issue and to discuss he details of your case. Good luck.
