I failed to appear to a court hearing in Mass, I had to leave to attend a family emergency then I had to move to NH. I tried notifying the court about the situation but they were not helping with the situation. I just got hired and they are doing a background check, will it affect my employment? Also the hearing was for a motor vehicle violation. I just needed to pay a fine. If I go to the court to pay it will they arrest me?
I need more information to help you. What type motor vehicle violation was it? Was your appearance required or were you able to pay it out and not have to appear? If it is a payout ticket, it may be as simple as calling the court and making payment. If it is a ticket that requires your appearance, you need to hire an attorney immediately so you can discuss your options and determine how to get the warrant taken care of. Good luck!
Your a fugitive. You have an open warrant for your arrest. Yes, it can effect your employment.
I am licensed attorney who focuses on Serious DUI Cases such a 2nd DUIs, 3rd DUIs, 4th DUIs, and Felony DUIs and DMV hearings. I also have much experience handling car accident cases. Although the information I provide is helpful, it is not legal advice. Although Avvo makes it clear to consumers that attorney answers to questions are for general purposes only and do not establish an attorney-client relationship, some attorneys prefer to add their own disclaimers to answers. You can set your custom disclaimer here and it will be automatically added to your answers. Do NOT include any direct solicitations or contact information.
It may be as simple as contacting the court and/or paying to clear the warrant. You should not just ignore this. The longer you wait on this the more issues it will cause, it is not just a concern for the background check. Contact counsel licensed in MA.
