In 2009, I had payday loans, getting payday loans to pay off other ones. I believe I had like 6 of them and couldn't afford to pay my bills, so I hired a consolidation company that were suppose to negotiate with them but the loan companies were sending the checks through my bank. I had to go to the JP for each check to pay for the amount and court costs. I thought that once they were paid that it did not go under my record. I never was arrested for any of them, but cannot get jobs.
If you were convicted of the offense then these will stay on your record. If you were not, then you may have the option to expunge these records and have them deleted forever.
Robert Guest is a Kaufman County Criminal Defense Lawyer with offices is Forney, Texas and Rockwall, Texas. My use of Avvo is not intended to form an attorney-client relationship. Avvo is a limited forum and should never be used as a replacement for a consultation with a local lawyer. My answers are not legal advice. You really need a consultation with a local attorney.
You were not arrested, but you did pay which works out the same a guilty or no-contest plea to a misdemeanor. This will stay on your criminal records. Criminal background checks will find and report these for 7 years. Have you gotten letters from any background checking companies telling you about these negative reports? You might want to investigate the dates.
