I got caught by shoplifting from Giant store in Baltimore county, she just took me a picture and wrote information about my driver license, i returned the item back ( the item price is 7$) , the police were not involved. I asked if that will affect in my record and background check, after that she let me go . I didn't singed any paper. Do I will receive any mail of them ? Do I should be worried? What i have to do now? She said all of the information will be in them database.
You will be probably charged with theft under $100.00 which is a misdemeanor. I would expect you to receive a Summons in the mail.
If you are charged, retain an attorney to represent you. You do not want a theft conviction on your record. You can check Maryland Judiciary Case Search periodically to see if charges have been filed.
Make sure you stay out of all Giant stores.

You may or may not be charged. It's impossible to tell. The facts that the police were not involved, that they got the item back, or that, or you were "let go" are not determinative. If you are charged you should consult an attorney or the public defender's office.
