My inspection expired at the end of August and it completely slipped my mind, I got the ticket today 10/14/13 and I got my inspection done a few hours later. Also the ticket is for $100 but it is less than 60 days since it expired shouldn't it only be for $50? Can I fight this ticket or do I just have to deal and pay?
In Suffolk County, you can challenge the ticket at SCTVPA in Hauppauge. What I would recommend at this point is to mail the ticket in Not Guilty with a copy of the completed inspection. That may be enough. Worst case you will have to go to SCTVPA in Hauppauge and they may dismiss it on proof, at which point they usually charge you a $50 administrative fee.
It is not a fix it ticket. You still have your right to fight it.
This is not legal advice. If order to give you legal advice i would need to see the Tickets and talk to the court first. Good luck:)
For the $100 and a non-moving violation just pay the fine and be done with it. Your time cannot be worth the $100.
