The ex-wife is saying that I'm behind on the payments
Read the final decree, any settlement agree, any child support addendum. One of those documents should say the amount you are obligated to pay and the date your first payment is due. Generally child support is due the first of the month following the divorce decree, if there was not already a CS order. So if your divorce was final and September and you haven't made a payment, you are very likely several months behind.
This is really not that difficult. You owe child support for each month from October, until the last month support is owed in the support order.
The Order should have stated when you were to begin paying child support. You need to review the final judgment, child support addendum and any other orders signed by the Court when you received your divorce. It is likely that you were to begin paying in October if the judgment was signed in September.
