I filed a protective order against my wife for hitting me after calling the police and writing summary of what had happened that day. The protection order was given and I was waiting for her to get served. Two days later (She still wasn't served) she found out she was going to be served and told me, which I recorded it on my cellphone, that she would go and file one against me because she wasn't getting kicked out of her home. We where both served the following day after she completed her PO and yet I still had to leave my home. What kind of law is this that she could place her hands on me and i do the right thing, but I feel as though I'm being treated like the criminal.
When there are competing protective orders, it is often the husband who is asked to leave the residence, right or not.
In any event, you need to get legal counsel to represent you at the hearing, and so do without delay. The ramifications of having a protective order against you can affect your job, your ability to find a place to live, having firearms, etc.
