I was the plumbing contractor on a new house, that he hired me to do the plumbing. I retired from the trade in 1996 , but recently realized that the lien was never paid .The Contractors name is Jos. Starkey , and I was told that he moved to California immediately after he gave me a bogus check. I do not have any proof, and do not even remember the house address. The house was built in Monona Village, WI. or possibly Madison WI.
In Wisconsin, a construction lien expires 2 years after filing, unless a lawsuit is brought to foreclose the lien. (Wis. Stat. s779.06(1)). If the lien was filed prior to 1996, the lien would have expired and the clerk of courts likely removed it. You can search for liens on the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Page (CCAP), to see if there is still any record of it.
