I did file divorce and knew today that my spouse was sick while she stayed with her sister in other state because we were in disagreement lately. She was green card holder that I petitioned her two and half years ago since she come to US.
Who would be responsible for medical bill that she got treated on law income couples. We did not have enough income to cover the bill to begin with,
If divorce decree is approved eventually and if we are asked to pay portion or all of it, who will be responsible? Her sickness was also emergency, she fainted and fall down.
You are technically married until the decree of divorce is entered into the court record, so medical bills remain an obligation of the marriage. That said, the answer will depend upon what else has happened - whether there's a marital settlement agreement in place, whether there are temporary orders defining those responsibilities, etc. You would do best to contact the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada who assists low-income couples with legal needs. You can reach them at 702-386-1070.
