We were given a special discount for the holidays at my previous job, they never gave us a paper explaining the details. All I had was a radio message saying it was in effect because I didn't work opening shifts so I never got the details. They told me I had to sign a paper agreeing to pay the $800 back and suspended me. They told me they would call me and let me know their decision but never called to tell me if I was fired or coming back to work, it's been 2 months now. Also was told that it would be kept confidential until a decision was made but it was known later day according to some friends who worked with me.... can they charge me criminally for anything?
They could charge you with Theft by Taking. If you haven't been told of a decision, it might be wise to ask. While the likelihood is they decided not to move forward, there's always the possibility that a warrant is outstanding. Better to know in advance, so you can be prepared to address it.
