I was a student with my F1 visa and changed my status to H1b effective Oct 2019. Now I got admission from another university for January, it seems to me this change of status will take very long so I am thinking about going back home and come again. The question is if I have the new I-20 in place, do I need to apply for a new visa as my old visa is still valid (through Jun2020)? Note that I have been in another status...
You should be able to return to the U.S. on your old visa that has not expired.
The above is intended only as general information, and does not constitute legal advice. You must speak with an attorney to discuss your individual case.
You will need to apply for a brand new F-1 visa now.
