I have to support my family still on and I am unable to work I need to know if I can get some kind of disability or compensation for the time I'm off of work I still have to pay my bills
You can apply for state disability insurance through EDD. You can also ask your employer for a light duty position, they have a duty to meet with you in good faith to discuss if they can accommodate your disability. You may also check with your employer to see if they or any union you belong to have you signed up for an disability insurance such as AFLAC.
Assuming that you have paid into state disability, you can apply for SDI through EDD. Your doctor will have to certify you (fill out a form) for disabiiity.
