I am the respondent and on my divorce paperwork its marked " respondent is ordered to pay all debts unknown to petitioner". I want to know what it means does it mean im responsible for my exes debt? She marked down only 3 things she owed and she is responsible for during the time before the marrage. She now has medical debt in collections that she got during the time we were still married because she didnt know she was taken off her families health insurance.
Interpreting provisions of a divorce decree is best left to the divorce attorneys. Debt attorneys can only tell you that a creditor can only collect from the person that made or signed for the account. Hope this perspective helps!

I agree with the previous answer. This question should be in the divorce/family law Q&A section. If you had an attorney in your divorce I suggest contacting that attorney to discuss this provision with you.
