It has been 6 months since my father passed and 6 years for my mother. My mother had lots of items for sister and I to divide. Her will stated all went to husband. So...none of my mother'S items were divided. Now sister, executor, has blocked me from everything while she takes her time to dispurse items in house, and land to be sold. I was told it is none of my business since our parents put her in charge and she is responsible for all of their affairs. I just want to be a part of helping. Not possible. So, i wait. What can i do to get my items and inheritance?
Get an attorney and take the needed steps in court to compel her cooperation or removal as executor.
To questioners from West Virginia & New York: Although I am licensed to practice in your state (in WV, on inactive status as of 9/13), I practice on a day-to-day basis in Massachusetts. I answer questions in your state in areas of the law in which I practice, and in which I feel comfortable trying to offer you assistance based on my knowledge of specific statutes in your state and/or general principles applicable in all states. It is always best, however, to work with attorneys and court personnel in your own area to deal with specific problems and factual situations.
