I am self employed and wanting to start selling goods on Amazon Through FBA, I will import goods from China, how will I pay my taxes , my husband is working and gets paid a monthly salary, we file joint taxes ( till now I had no income )
Hire a good accountant to assist you. I am not familiar with Amazon's platform but there may be state sales tax compliance issues you need to familiar yourself with or amazon's platform may take care of that for you.
Assuming you are working at this regularly, you will need to file a separate Schedule C with the business of selling through Amazon. Amazon may track your income for you, but you want to be careful to track your expenses. You may want to consider a hiring a tax preparer now who also does bookkeeping services, or a separate bookkeeper, as they can help you keep track of your income and expenses so that you have all the documentation you need at tax time next year. If you make a profit in any of your Self Employment ventures, you will need to pay income taxes on this amount (on your normal tax return) and self-employment taxes, which are like the Social Security & Medicare taxes deducted from wages when you work for someone else.
Additionally, you do want to have your bookkeeper/tax preparer be knowledgeable about state sales tax requirements, as you may be liable for sales tax in some states. Amazon can help you with calculating and collecting the sales tax on individual sales, but you may still have sales tax return filing requirements that I don't think Amazon handles for you.
