My I140 has been approved this week and my date is current (Nationality:IND, Country of Chargeability :UAE). I am preparing checklist for I485. My employer has asked in his checklist my DATE OF MARRIAGE. Even though my marriage in church was on Jan 27,2007, as per the official marriage certificate its December 10,2007 (thats when we registered). Would this create any problem with my I485 filing or further process? Is DATE OF MARRIAGE needs to be filled in any forms? I am thinking i will go with Dec 10,2007 since thats the date as per my certificate. Please let me know if thats fine. Thanks!
It is probably the date on your marriage certificate.
Mr. Shusterman's (former INS Trial Attorney, 1976-82) response to your question is general in nature, as not all the facts are known to him. You should retain an attorney experienced in immigration law to review all the facts in your case in order to receive advice specific to your case. Mr. Shusterman's statement above does not create an attorney/client relationship.
It is probably best to use the date on the marriage certificate of December 10, 2007.
Alexus P. Sham-The above information is only general in nature and does not constitute legal advice. It does not create an attorney-client relationship.
