I am wondering what I can do about a work situation?
I was hired by a homeowner to paint entire interior of home I gave them 2 quotes, And clearly explained to them since the remaining wood fixtures, closets, shelves etc. haven't been installed I couldn't give them a price but would give them an add-on invoice after everything was complete. They said they understood and agreed for me to move forward. Now They think they can pull a fast one on me and are saying that they don't have to pay me since we didn't give them a contract to sign. They think they only have to pay me for what they were charged on the first estimates!!! We have spent weeks there doing massive work, they have been mean to my employees and myself calling us names saying we are slow and cursing at us. We kept it cool and professional, just doing our job. And now they are refusing to pay me. I feel horrible, I'm in debt, I owe my employees money and they don't care. Should or can I take them to court. For the work and/or punitive damages?
