I got a citation for following too closely that involved an accident with no injuries/fatality.
There is no fine amount that is being reflected on my citation.
I moved out of Atlanta, Georgia and I cannot attend the court date on Jan 15th, 2019.
How to get it resolved without getting any points on my license?
If you are unable to attend court on the 15th you’ll need to get representation to do so for you. Accident cases are not payable online because the city wants to make sure that all parties have been taken care of. If you don’t show up and don’t hire an attorney they will issue a warrant for you. Use the Avvo find a lawyer feature to speak to lawyers in your area that can help you out, they may be able to work it out or you don’t have to appear in court at all and there may be a diversion possibility for you To get this to a point where it won’t affect your record.
I agree with my colleague. If you are not able to appear at that court date, you need an attorney to appear on your behalf. Otherwise there will be a failure to appear warrant issued for you. Find an attorney who handles traffic cases in the city of Atlanta municipal court. The Find a Lawyer menu on here should be helpful.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
