I was arrested for domestic violence a couple years ago and after one year the case was dismissed and expunged (after taking some domestic violence classes). whenever anyone searches my name on google or other search engines the result shows my name in jail, jail base, countyjail, and scam.com websites, how can I remove them? what kind of lawyer do I need to hire?
As long as these sites only post that you were arrested and don't state that you were convicted, I'm not sure there is anything you can do. They are reporting a true fact, that you were arrested. An expungement order only orders government agencies to remove the conviction; it doesn't require private data bases and websites to do the same. These sites are horrible and fail to state that the charges were dismissed or expunged ruining lives for many innocent people but I suspect a lawsuit would be worthless.
Nothing in this communication should be construed as creating an attorney-client relationship. I provide this service for educational purposes only. I will take no action on your behalf unless you have hired me and a written retainer agreement is signed. I am licensed only in Tennessee and I strongly suggest you consult with an attorney in your city and state as Statute of Limitation deadlines can limit your recovery.
That's my understanding as well. Expunging a case requires the State to get rid of documentation concerning the conviction. There are no expungement requirements for private entities.
