I got pulled over yesterday, didn't get a DUI but I got booked and charged with public intoxication. They impounded my car and say the owner has to be the one to get it out. The title is in my dad's name and he is out of the country and won't be back for three weeks. Is there any way I can get my car out? My name is on an insurance driver list but that's the only thing.
A power of attorney may be the only way. It will have to be notarized, which can be a problem if your father is outside the U.S. Typically a consulate, embassy or military installation will have a notary. There is also a federal law that permits active military officers to fulfill notary duties for soldier.
Good luck to you.
