My husband and I got separated and we have a 2 year old together. He won't file for divorce and I don't know how to and I'm sure lawyer fee are pretty high. We don't own anything and there's nothing to settle just our son and custody. Can someone tell me what are the steps to take in my situation?

There are self-help areas in the courthouses, and you can obtain the forms for a dissolution of marriage with child there. You can also get simple advice on how to fill those forms out. He cannot prevent you from getting a divorce if that is what you want. Florida is a "no fault" state. Good luck to you.

If you are truly in financial hardship you may obtain a waiver of most, or all, fees otherwise payable to the State of Florida.
