Myself and another musician / songwriter want to copyright our new CD which is Titled "Movies". The CD contains 10 songs and we are the authors and copyright claimants of all 10 songs.
If we list the "Title of This Work" as "Movies" and "Nature of This Work" as "a collection of 10 songs" and list the names of each song on the form, do you think the copyright office will accept this and and if they do will each of the ten songs be covered under the copyright ? We hope to do this and pay one copyright fee and submit one form rather than paying 10 fees for each of the 10 songs.
Info on any other ways to have some legal protection for our work (other than filing for copyright) would be appreciated.

So far, this is free to you. Until you pay a fee, I am not your lawyer and you are not my client, so you take any free advice at your sole risk. I am licensed in IL, MO, TX and am a Reg. Pat. Atty. so advice in any other jurisdiction is general advice and should be confirmed with an attorney licensed in that jurisdiction.

Any answer or other information posted above is general in nature and is not intended, nor should it be construed, as legal advice. This posting does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and the posting attorney, and you are urged to engage a qualified attorney who is licensed to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
Please see my response to your other query.
Avvo doesn't pay us for these responses, and I'm not your lawyer just because I answer this question or respond to any follow-up comments. If you want to hire me, please contact me. Otherwise, please don't expect a further response. We need an actual written agreement to form an attorney-client relationship. I'm only licensed in CA and you shouldn't rely on this answer, since each state has different laws, each situation is fact specific, and it's impossible to evaluate a legal problem without a comprehensive consultation and review of all the facts and documents at issue.
