Tenant has moved out in mid August of this year but owes four and a half months rent amounting to $8K. He does not communicate with us anymore. What is best way to get the rent ?
You might file a complaint for breach of contract in the local district court. Depending on the circumstances, a lawyer might be helpful in this type of case- but it is not always necessary. And then there's the matter of collecting on any judgment you get- there are debt collection firms/agencies you can hire.
