I have a over payment credit check for about 25.00 dollars. Its from Socal gas company. When my father passed i had the gas turn off. And this is a credit. Since my father is longer with us and has no bank accounts open with someone how can i cash or deposit this check or can i.
You can only negotiate that check if you are the personal representative of his estate. If his assets were minimal , you can use the small estate affidavit. Otherwise, it’s probably not worth bothering to open a probate.
If dad's estate is too small to probate (gross value of less than $150,000)), I would just write to them and ask for a new check. You could use a small estate affidavit, but the notary charge ($15) is more than the check.
When the person gives you money, the person has an attorney and the attorney has a client, but not until then. Inspired by words of Abraham Lincoln
