I and my husband own 2 cars paid off. Titles state like this: “me and him JTRS.” We wanted this to mean “ me and him as joint tenants with right of survivorship” but as it was to long they just put the abbreviation. The reason we did this is that in case one of us dies the cars would be owned straight by the remaining one. He has 2 sons from his former marriage. If he dies would I own the cars straight just with a death certificate showed to DMV?! Or the cars would have to pass through probate?!
If they are joint tenancy yes you would own them outright. They pass to you automatically and do not become part of his estate.
