An individual is spreading unfounded rumors with a paper trail (email) that I use drugs. Im a healthcare professional and find this potentially damaging to me professionally.
Under $500 provided that you have all of the necessary paperwork as any attorney that takes this matter on will have to review all of the facts first to ensure that you have a proper cause of action to assert. Good luck. This is an awful situation for you.
You could probably have a new lawyer do it for a couple hundred.
ONE MILLION DOLLARS! (puts pinkie to corner of mouth and laudhs maniacally)
I am not your lawyer. This is not legal advice. If you were my client, you would know it.
All depends on what you intend the letter to do. If a true C&D only, much cheaper as no need to have lawyer contacted or have discussions (which lawyers bill for). If it involves more, like demanding retraction and follow-up, then you will typically pay additional money for the added work. Its important to discuss this with lawyers as you don't want the means of handling confused. Nothing worse than only paying for a C&D letter, and then finding that other person wanted to settle or resolve the issue but lawyer wouldn't respond (because he wasn't paid to).
What Mark said. Actually, it depends on the lawyer. It's also important to ask whether the letter would be effective, as some websites have a policy of ignoring letters. It's important in matters like these to take action quickly, and to document everything.
