He was arrested while driving someone else's car which had drugs in it unknown to him.
Idaho does not rank charges by degree, for drug possession, or at least I've never heard of that. There is a ranking system for mandatory minimums on certain charges.
The possible penalty depends on the type of drugs, and then the quantity. Most felony, "simple" drug possessions are up to 7 years. The possible maximum isn't always very relevant, because judges can do several things short of imposing the full penalty, like suspend sentence and put the person on probation, or retain jurisdiction and send the person on a rider.
