If you feel that it is too much, you should consult other attorneys in the area to see what they charge for similar services.
If you have any type of criminal history or other complicated immigration issues, then that will necessitate a higher fee for some attorneys.
Marc Taylor, Esq.
Please check with lawyers in your area privately. There may be complexities justifying certain fees.

Lawyers charge a variety of prices based on many factors and do not get together to set prices. For example, a lawyer with 25 years of experience should charge more than a lawyer 2 years out of school.
The only question is whether the amount is in the range of reasonable. $1,500.00 does not see outrageous under any circumstances. Also, does that include the govt fee?
If you feel that is an unfair price, you should ask around and find out how much other attorneys charge based on your particular situation.
Avvo doesn't remunerate me for this response, and I'm only offering limited advice based on the few facts given me in your question. I am not your lawyer solely because I answer this question or respond to any follow-up comments. If you want to hire me or are interested in a low cost or free consultation, please contact me. Otherwise, please don't expect a further response. We need an actual written agreement to form an attorney-client relationship. It's impossible to fully evaluate a legal problem without a comprehensive consultation and review of all the facts and documents at issue.
Prices will vary. In many instances it may depend on the facts of your case, whether you have any possible eligibility issues/obstacles or not. Try to talk to a few different attorneys, and the most important thing is to find someone you are comfortable with.
