My husband stole and wrote checks for 22;500 on someone's acct when he was on drugs..but is now clean..what should he do and can he do anything to stay out of jail
This is most likely a class C felony, carrying 5-10 years in state prison. The fact that he had a substance abuse issue, and has addressed it, could help with negotiating for a reduced charge and/or a punishment that doesn’t involve jail time. This will depend on multiple factors, including his prior criminal history (if any), the prosecutor’s policies regarding this type of crime, and the judge he’s in front of. He will benefit greatly by hiring an experienced attorney to help him secure the best outcome possible.
10 max. If you can pay it all back and get a good lawyer probation is possible
