My husband is Australian and is currently in Australia. I sent in the I-130 package to the Chicago USCIS location a couple of weeks ago and my check was processed on April 12 (12 days ago). I haven't received anything since then and am getting concerned.
Normally it takes from 10 days to 2 weeks to receive the USCIS Notice of receipt. You can call USCIS if you do not receive it within that time and request it. Please check the address you listed on the application. Perhaps there is an error, which you need to correct by calling USCIS. And yes, you need it to file for K-3.

It usually takes about 2 weeks to receive a receipt notice, but that is just an estimate. The good news is that if your check was processed then you will probably receive a receipt notice soon. If an application is incomplete or not acceptable for some reason, then normally the whole package is returned (including the check). The I-130 receipt notice is required for filing the K-3 application. I would give a few more days. Good Luck!
