The Board?? Was this also a Workers Compensation claim? -Were you working when you got injured? If so, that can certainly tie things up a bit and with the pandemic closing courts, I’m sure it will take even longer. However, if it is just a personal injury claim not lawsuit filed no worker’s compensation claim along with it, it should not take more than a couple weeks to get your money, after signing your Release.

30 days would not be too unusual and maybe a bit longer due to the pandemic. If there is something about your case that is causing a delay - a lost check, lien holders, etc. - then your lawyer needs to just be upfront about that.

As I understand the facts, the case was settled in December of 2019, you have not received payment by May 2020, and your attorney will not return your calls. While there may be legitimate reasons why it is taking so long to distribute the settlement proceeds, there are also red flags that something may be amiss. You might consider contacting the State Bar Association that licenses attorneys, informing them of the situation, and asking them to help. They should be able to get some answers.
