How long is a statute of limitations on a hit and run causing death?

In Michigan, the statute of limitations for wrongful death is three (3) years.
There may be exceptions to this rule, so the child's parents should consult with a personal injury attorney in their area who has experience with Wrongful Death claims.
They can use the "Find a lawyer" link at the top of the screen for the names of some attorneys near them.
Please do not message me for further advice or call my former law firm if you have any further questions. If you are in need of an attorney to assist you, please search for another attorney in the jurisdiction involved in your case, as I am now retired, and my former law firm is no longer handling these types of cases. I am active on AVVO and answer questions only as a public service at this point.

I am sorry for the death of your grandson and wish your family the best
A civil cause of action is probably long expired; but it would be best to consult a knowledgeable attorney in the state where it happened.
It is very important to retain a lawyer quickly. How old was grandson? Are parents in the picture? Do you have the police report? When did accident happen? When did he die?
