hello i am planning to petition my daughter of 9 yrs old. I hold a perm gc. I cannot wait for her to come here as it is so sad to be away. How long does it take for her to be here? Can I petition her green card then have her come here then go back to asia to finish her schooling? How long does the re entry permit take? Can she go to school there and go to america on vacation with a green card on a re entry permit? How does the re entry permit work? I am so confused. Thanks in advance
Under the F2-A category it will take your daughter about 2 years + to immigrate to the US. Once she obtains the GC and needs to remain abroad for a while, she can apply for a Reentry Permit, which will be valid for 2 years and enable her to remain in Asia for up to 2 years without relinquishing her GC status. Also, the RP is valid for multiple entries and can be renewed at least 4 months prior to its expiration.

If you sponsor your daughter, she will be in the F2A category, which is currently taking over a year and a half. If she gets a green card and needs to stay out of the U.S. for a while, she can apply for a reentry permit. The reentry permit is valid for up to two years. I strongly recommend consulting with an immigration attorney to fully evaluate your immigration history and to see what options are available to your daughter.

Years. Visa bulletin suggests about two of them. I would not hold my breath on that.
