My lawyer had me plead. He told me if I took the plea I could still carry a handgun and should be able to work in Law Enforcement. I filled out a gun check form and was approved but one question on there asked if you have ever been convicted of misd or felony Family violence do I have to check yes and how do I obtain a criminal history in order to check what conviction is on it?
You really should re-contact your attorney and review this with him. If you received a Deferred Adjudication and the case was dismissed then there was no "conviction" and you should be okay if the question asks about convictions. Visit with your attorney and check the paperwork. You need to0 be absolutely sure of what you are attesting to on your applications.
