Irratically is passing motorists on wrong side of road NO LIGHTS OR SIREN! All signals and lights are in proper working condtion on friends car n being used as well. Driving down residential twards main road. Red light hes first motorists behind him and the cop is at this point on the left side of the person behind him at an angle no lights or sirens. He uses signal and turns right cop follows no more than 1/4 mile away is the freeway. So halfway to this light cop lights him up. Friend flees onto freeway putting say 100 yards between them. Cop at this point turns.off lights doesn't pursue! So friend still rushes home say 5 miles at most from a to b. No air unit no other PD(As cop was suburban PD). Now friend has no warrant not even a report and it been 48 hours in like 10 hours from now. Other reports in area are posted already! So friend had expired tag n no DL. And a misdemeanor warrant(non pay support). Why no pursuit? No report? I can see no warrant not enough time but i feel like he just said forget it due to warrant type and the MM M1 charges. Was this not worth risking motorists safety? I forgot he had 2 warrants same charge but this one was F4 in nearby county. LMK PLZ
1. If your friend did this with you in the vehicle, you need to pick a new friend.
2. If you were not in the vehicle, you do not know that what he is telling you is true. And anybody dumb enough to run from the police like this likely does not mind going through life as a liar either.
Nobody can tell you why any police officer does anything. Maybe there was a shooting he was suddenly called to. Or a cat up a tree. Or he dropped a donut.
They won't be able to get a warrant unless they can ID him as the driver. It is almost certainly NOT sufficient to just get a warrant for the registered owner.
My location is substantially less crowded than your location, and it would probably take a couple weeks to get around to a warrant for something like this. Prosecutors get the warrants from a judge, not the cops.
