I was "pistol whipped" from the other side of my gate and I struck him as hard as I could with my flashlight and I took off inside my house. He drove away and called 911. I told the sheriff my side of the story and he said I have to go to jail. Well I didn't open the gate and went in the house. Cops been trying to make contact but I stay inside
The prosecution has 3 years to file a felony and 1 year to file a misdemeanor. You don't have to talk to the police. However, if there's a warrant for your arrest, under some circumstances, the police can force entry. I would contact an attorney. He or she can check to see if a charge has been filed against you and if there's a warrant for your arrest.
IF the police are looking to arrest you, might as well cooperate BUT keep your mouth shut at the same time. Hire a lawyer, the heat is on.
