I recently was caught with xanax. The police didn't arrest me nor did they issue me a situation or give paperwork of any kind. I was just told that if I had a prescription to bring it the police station to retrieve my medication. I haven't filled a prescription for this since 05/01/14. Would I be safe to take the copy I have to the police station to retrieve my expired medication. Mostly if they do file charges down the road will I be safe with my old prescription?
This isn't a Civil Rights Question. You would be facing criminal charges not a civil infraction. Depending on your back ground related to prior arrests, age, and other factors, you should probably contact a criminal attorney directly and pose the question. I will switch practice area on your question to criminal defense. Hopefully that will help you in getting a valid response. Keep in mind - you always have the right to remain silent and to not incriminate yourself.
