My friend has a possession of a firearm by felon charge he's been fighting with a paid lawyer for 3yrs. No crime committed w gun belongd 2 his recently deceased father was in a bag n his room. Roommate called police while he was at work saying he kicked bag & felt it. He was called home then arrested. He's appeared in court over 15 times & Pre trial has been reset over more than that. He's called to court often with no sign of an end to this case. At his lawyer stated there was a 10yr deal on the table which seems ridiculous. The felon tag came from his teenage years. Until the judge says no more continuances. However, in Florida an attorney can file a demand for speedy trial which requires that the case be brought to trial within 60 days. I am sure your state has a similar procedure.
