Daughter is in an abusive relationship. There are over 5 police reports against the abuser. He has threatened to kill one of the children. We have numerous pictures of bruises and text messages from her saying “show me this if I ever go back because I know it only gets worse”. Children’s services has had one visit about 3 months ago due to loud fighting and the domestic violence. She is now back with the abuser and my husband and I are wanting to keep the children safe. At this time she will not let us see the grandchildren because we “disrespected” her abusive boyfriend by telling him to leave our property and never come back.
This is such a personal and difficult question to answer because it involves a mother intervening in an adult child's private life. This is not so much of the legal question as it is a personal question. If your community has a Women Helping Women organization, you might contact them for help and advice. If your community does not have such an organization, you should probably contact the therapist to help you out in navigating these difficult waters.
