I was curious, if the age of consent in America is 18 but in England it is 16, how would a relationship like that work? Assuming it's all online.
Very complicated question because, well, different countries. The answer to your question depends on who is what age, where each person is when an act is committed, the citizenship of each person etc. Generally, the laws in force over the geographic location where the act is committed control the behavior. But, a person's citizenship and the laws protecting them may also apply. Best case scenario, make sure everyone is legally an adult in both countries and/or get the younger person's parents to give permission, which may be impossible/awkward.
I'm licensed to practice law only in Utah and Idaho, and we've never met, so I can't give you "legal" advice. My answer is simply "friendly" advice based on my experience as an attorney in the states where I’m licensed, my knowledge of federal and common law, and common sense. Even if you are in Utah or Idaho, employment law questions are very fact specific, and based on the limited information you provided in your post, I can't give you legal advice, and my answer is intended as general information only. It doesn't create an attorney-client relationship.
