I am wanting to sign a lease for an apartment but I cosigned a lease with my mother for a house and am trying to get off. They said I need to write a letter stating that I want to release the claim for the deposit and want to be taken off.
I apologize if I have missed something but it seems you have answered your own question. If they are asking you to write them a letter saying that you are giving up any claim to have your deposit returned and that you want out of the lease, that is probably what you should do. Just make certain that they give you something in writing that states that you are no longer responsible for the lease.
