Everytime I go to register my current vehicles, it will show up as apart of my tax bill. Also, I receive notifications of insurance lapses. NCDOT says they can't remove me because we bought the bike when we were married. My ex husband told me the bike was repossessed. I have to track him down and have a fit for him to pay me I just want my name removed as we've been divorced for over 10 yrs and I've never had this motorcycle. What steps do I take to clear my name and stop having to pay taxes on it?
That is an unusual problem. The DMV should have a Procedure for you to show that you and your husband don’t own the repossessed motorcycle anymore. He told you it was repossessed, so I am confused as to why he would still be renewing the registration on it. If he lied about repossession and he still has it, then you may need to get your Equitable Distribution order enforced by the court in order to get your name off his title. There is really too much information missing in your question to give you a good answer.
