Our next door neighbor has decided to rent her property for music festivals. This weekend, they started on Thursday morning and are still going this morning, Sunday. They spin music 24 hours a day over 10ft high speakers meant for a stadium. They invited 300 people and had two sound stages, one right against our property line, about 50ft from our guest house which houses a tenant. The music, especially the BASE vibrates our house and the window all shake. This has gone on for 3 days now without stop, 24 hours a day. We are experiencing headaches, sleep deprivation and high blood pressure. We have no police response. What are our rights and what can we do?
Check with the city or county department that enforces zoning and land use laws. Is this a violation? Do they need a permit and, if so, do they have one?
Is there an applicable noise ordinance?
Regardless of governmental restrictions, it may be what the law regards as a nuisance, in which case you should consider hiring a lawyer to seek an injunction against the activity.
