I received a bill from a collection agency, that Verizon Wireless had turned over to them.
I cancelled my service on 11-14-2016. I paid my final bill that was dated by Verizon( 11/18/2016) on 11-21-2016. My next bill dated 12/18/2016 showed a balance due of 0.00
They are saying that I sent a payment in the amount of $266.08 and then reversed it I checked my bank account from 11-01-2016 to 3-27-2017 and that amount does not show up. My monthly bill was $42.41 and last bill was $61.88.
If you're getting this new bill in writing then please save it, along with a detailed explanation of what you;re being told. If your bank records prove that Verizon is mistaken then this may be a violation of both federal and state consumer protection statutes and you may be entitled to damages. I would consult with an attorney that practices in this field and has experience suing debt collectors. Get the consult before you pay anything,
This may be a solid FCCPA collections violation lawsuit as long as you are sure that there was never a $266.08 charge that was ever reversed. . You need to retain a consumer lawyer to examine this ASAP as they may owe you $1,000.00 or more and have to pay for you legal fees on top of it.
