I bought a house with money my mom left me. My friend told the people that we were married and we are not they put his name on all the papers. I need for his name to be removed.
Removing your friend’s name from the property will require the assistance of an attorney. Also, this doesn’t fall under divorce or family law as it really about real estate. I will put this in the correct forum so the right attorney’s will see your question.
Some options you have are:
1. Get friend to sign a Quitclaim Deed conveying all their interest in the property to you; or
2. File an action to divest title from your friend.
You will need an attorney who litigates and who has knowledge of real estate. Schedule an appointment with them and bring all of the information you have in order to fully discuss this matter.
