I have a mold problem in my bathroom and would like to have my landlord test for mold and fix this problem.
I have called and told them about this problem but action has been taken. It has been a month now. Any Ideas on how to get this moving? Can someone help me with a letter that I can use to get this moving?
Thank you for your time.
You can try complaining to the Department of Building Inspection. If they inspect, and find anything they believe to be a health or safety code violation, they will cite the landlord, and order the landlord to fix the problems.
However, I don't believe that DBI does mold testing, or will order the landlord to do so. If you want to test, you'll probably have to hire someone yourself.
If the mold problems are serious enough, and/or you are concerned about other tenancy issues, you should promptly consult a local landlord-tenant attorney. Many offer a free initial consultation.
