I had two contractors come out and give me estimates on pressure washing and staining my cabin. I picked the one with a slightly lower price. He said he would be out on Monday and nobody showed so we called him. It turns out that he just hired people and sent them out on jobs. On the phone, he said that his laborers had quit and it would take him a day or two to hire someone and send them out. Wednesday 2 men and 2 women showed up and had no idea what was going on. They stood around talking for about 30 minutes and I decided to call him and cancel and hire the other man. The other man and his team ended up doing a fantastic job. Meanwhile, I had paid the first man 4,300.00. Half of the job cost for supplies and such. I paid through Discover and went through their resolution department and they finally came back and said that he told them that we were made aware that the deposit was nonrefundable for any reason. This is simply not true. I told discover this but they said we would have to seek other means to get our money back. I have a letter written by the second contractor stating he had to do the job.
