How do I find information on a current ACS case?

It is possible the O-Docket and the NN-Docket cases have the same File # and if so, you can look up the File # and you'll find both cases. That said, it is probably a good idea for you to contact a NY Family Law attorney for advice on how to proceed to be sure you don't inadvertently do anything now that needs to be undone later (as that will add to the cost of your case). If your only concern is what to write about the case involving ACS, it's ok if you don't have the details, just write what you know. Good luck!
All of Ms. Brown's responses to questions posted on AVVO are intended as general information based upon the facts stated in the question, and are provided for educational purposes of the public, not any specific individual, and her response to the question above is not legal advice and it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Ms. Brown is licensed to practice law in New York. If you would like to obtain specific legal advice about this issue, you must contact an attorney who is licensed to practice law in your state.
You should be informed of there is a neglect matter proceeding in Family Court against the mother. ACS should have reached out to you. I would suggest that you speak to and hire an attorney to help you with the custody matter.
As to the petition, you can just say that there is a neglect matter against the mother but you are not sure of the details. Once you get into court, the judge should be able to find out this information so long as the case is in NY.
